Just Exactly What Is A Medley?
Even Though I Searched Through Each Page Of The 1904 Danville High School Yearbook, I Failed In My Attempt To Find Why The DHS Yearbook Staff Named This Book, The "Medley".
This First Edition Is Paperback. The Bind Is Held Together By Twine Weaven Through Three Holes. Perhaps In Future Books I Describe Will Find The Reasoning Of This Name. If I Were To Describe The 1904 Medley In One Word It Would Have To Be The Genesis. The 1904 Medley Was The First Yearbook Published By The Students/Staff Of DHS. Ok, Let Me Start At My Genesis. One Day My Mother Handed Me Three Medley's. They Were 1929, 1930, & 1931. In One Of Those Books Contained My Grandfathers Photo. From That Moment On I Could Not Resist Buying When I Found One. Before I Knew It I Had A Collection Started. I Am Guessing I Have Been Collecting And Searching For More Than 25 Years. I Have Many Story's To Tell About My Collection Through These Years. I Will Share Them As We Visit Each One Of These Books.

And Now, Gentle Reader, We Have Come To The End. Possibly We Ought To Say Something Pathetic On This Parting Occasion, But Far From It: We Are Feeling Very Practical Right At This Point. If There Is Anything In The Book That You Think Is Absolutely Rotten, Pray Do Not Mention It To Us. Just Whisper It Softly Into The Ears Of The '05 Medley Staff. And Please Do Not Tell Us That We Have Published The Best Annual Ever Gotten Out By DHS. We Know That. But Support The Coming Medley's And Then It Will Be A Pleasure To Us To Think That Our Efforts Have Not Been In Vain.
I Believe The Medley Staff's Efforts Were Not In Vain. Even Though 106 Years Have Passed, I Must Say The 1904 Edition Led A Path For All The Years That Followed. Even Though Every Face In This Book Is Deceased, I Find Myself Respectful For What They Accomplished. Little Did They Know The Precedence They Set For Years To Follow. As Of This Writing My Personal Collection Of Medley's Begin With The 1904. It Continues To 1993. For The Past Two Years I Was Missing The Year Of 1909. Just One Week Ago I Finally Located That Year. The Gap Has Been Filled And My Collection Gets Closer To Being Called Complete.
